BEAD & BUTTON SHOW 2010 STUDENTS
Thank you for your interest in our classes at the Bead & Button Show in Milwaukee. As I receive updated rosters of registered students, emails with information about supplies and any updates are sent. If you are registered for one of my classes and haven't received an email from me about supplies, please contact me directly. Include your name (as registered), class and email address.
Supplies
Supplies are available on my other site for our bead and yarn shop, Perlz Beads & Yarns. We have an easy to use online store where I have listed kits for our classes at prices that are less than what you would pay at most online retailers. You can be assured that the tools listed are recommended models for the class and they can be conveniently shipped directly to you.
Get 10% off your supplies order with this code: BBSHOW10.*
*Minimum order $50 to receive 10% discount.
The deadline for ordering supplies and having them shipped to you before class is Friday, May 21st. Any orders placed after that cannot be guaranteed for delivery in time for class. I may be able to bring tools and supplies with me to class. Be sure to contact me directly to make arrangements.
BUTANE FUEL
If you signed up for a class that requires a butane torch, you should bring a canister of butane fuel to class. Nozzles on these fuel canisters vary, so please try to match the size of the nozzle to the receptacle on the bottom of your torch. The nozzle should be narrow, either plastic or metal, to fit the brand of torches I sell, as shown in the picture below. Because of hazardous materials fees it's not cost effective to ship butane to my students with their orders, but if you receive your tools before the show, you should be able to go out and match a fuel canister to your torch. Sources include convenience stores, smoke shops and hardware stores, culinary supply shops - anywhere that sells culinary torches or lighters.
Vendors at the show usually have cans of butane for sale. Last year, the National Hardware Store had butane for sale.

about me
My name is Joe Silvera and I am a humble metalsmith, wax carver, co-owner of a bead and yarn store, and jewelry teacher. Writing a bio about myself seems like a perfect time to try to make sense of the crooked road that led me to here and now. After wandering around California State University at Long Beach as a general arts major, taking painting, sculpture and illustration classes, I tried a jewelry class, because my college roommate showed me his samples from his class. I loved it immediately, because I could bring everything from my fine arts background to jewelry.
