Art of Soldering Retreat

Friday, April 6, 2012 - Sunday, April 8, 2012
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Cost: $385.00

Join Joe for this three day retreat in the Art of Soldering: learn how to use the accessible microbutane torch to create earrings, charms, and pendants with sheet metal and wire. Thorough demonstrations and lots of practice time will have you soldering successfully and creating your own custom components for your jewelry. Students will focus on learning how to properly use tools like the torch, solder and flux, how to solder visible joints, overlays in sheet metal, and how to fabricate intermediate projects with wire, sheet metal and solder. How to set up your own home jewelry work area, and practice translating your designs from paper to metal with solder will also be covered.

Also during the retreat, we will use power tools like Flex Shaft Machines to polish your soldered pieces to a brilliant finish.

Price includes a kit of all the materials required to make the projects for class. Each student has a jewelry bench and a complete set of tools to use during class.
