In this five-day class, explore the technology and techniques required to work with Argentium Sterling Silver. Master goldsmith and Certified Master Bench Jeweler, Ronda Coryell, will provide expert instruction and close up demos.
This class is an interactive live online class with the instructor. For each of the 5 days, there is a morning and afternoon live Zoom session with independent work time in between, after, and on your schedule.
Students learn the process of fusing both flat and three-dimensional forms. Demonstrations are followed by guided work time to create and finish five projects: stack ring, flat band, earrings, pendant with bezel and cabochon and Keum Boo. 18kt or 22kt gold may be added to projects if desired.
Why learn how to fabricate with Argentium sterling?
Imagine using a sterling silver alloy that doesn’t tarnish, fuses and solders with less flux, doesn’t get fire scale, and is easier to forge and form. That’s Argentium! Sterling silver is an alloy of 925 parts fine silver and 75 parts copper. Copper causes sterling to tarnish and scale, requiring more flux, more cleaning and more polishing to finish your pieces.
• Argentium is an alloy of 930 parts fine silver (more silver than traditional sterling!) and germanium. This makes an easy to form alloy that cleans itself and resists tarnish - that means less tarnish removal, more jewelry that stays polished.
• Argentium also fuses beautifully - better than fine silver. So you can close jump rings, bezels and more joins without solder.
• Argentium’s resistance to firescale and tarnish, the fact that you need less flux, pickle and polishing to finish it, translates into cost savings in time and materials.
Learn how to use this wonder metal with one of the world's most well regarded experts on the use of Argentium silver. Register for your spot in Ronda’s workshop today.
A $125 dollar kit fee is payable to the instructor.
