This sequel to the Jewelry 1 - the Basics course continues to build your fabrication skills with a pendant project with multiple stone settings and decorative elements.
This course is available as an in-person workshop or live online class, and as a 4 week course or 2 day workshop. Please check this page for times and formats available.
Students design a custom pendant with a bail for multiple stones to be set in bezels. They will decorate their settings with a choice of twisted wire borders, silver granules, soldered overlays and wire elements.
Please note that the level 2 jewelry fabrication workshops (Jewelry 2, 3, and 4) can be taken in any order once you've completed the Basic Jewelry class (online or at our school). You can sign up for them as they become available on the schedule.
Techniques covered include:
• Design and workflow for a custom project
• Making twisted wire for decorative borders
• Melting silver into balls or granules for decoration
• Sweat soldering sheet metal overlays
• More precision soldering skills
• Fabricating a bail
• Making borders around your pendant
• Texturing without stamps or hammers
This course meets for 4 weeks, 3 hours per week, for a total of 12 hours of instruction.
A kit of materials is included with this class.
Online students will have kits mailed to them. Kits for in-person students are delivered at the beginning of the first class. International students may be charged an additional amount for shipping, because of the increased cost to ship abroad. Also, shipments to other countries may incur a tariff payable by the student. International students are welcome to contact us re: these costs and options for their materials. Please be sure that the address with your payment is the correct one for shipping.
Please review our COVID-19 guidelines for in-person students.
For the health and safety our staff and students, students are required to show proof of vaccination and to wear masks when attending classes at our school. If you can’t meet these requirements, we invite you to take the online version of this class instead, if available. Please visit our COVID-19 Updates page for more information.
Classes at our school include use of tools, with each student having their own bench to use during class. Online students will need to have their own tools (see the list of tools below). Feel free to contact us with any questions.
A full color handout is included with the class.
Create your own workbook with the beautiful handout that is downloadable for this workshop. Handouts include instructions for techniques and projects, reference charts and lots of information to support your learning.
Recordings of class.
If a class is online, or is a combination online and in-person session, all students receive a link to a recording of the class demonstrations. In-person only workshops are not recorded.
