Cost: $295.00

In the 4th part of our online jewelry fabrication series, students will cast ingots and forge them into jewelry, and make lightweight custom hollow form earrings. During zoom class you can watch as your instructor demonstrates techniques and ask questions, all from the comfort of your home studio.

Part of what is amazing about working in metal is that you can melt down your scrap and start over! Learn how to sort your metals, home studio friendly methods for casting an ingot, and forging techniques to turn it back into jewelry.

Creating volume without weight is a key skill for designing all forms of jewelry. Students will learn how to make hollow form earrings and how to create a setting for pearls.

Techniques covered include:
• Cast an ingot with home studio friendly techniques

• Forging wedges, tapers, and more
• How to use a draw plate to draw wire

• Fabricating hollow forms

• Making earrings
• Make a setting for a pearl

This class meets for 4 weeks, 3 hours per week, for a total of 12  hours of instruction.

Check out our free videos on how to set up to solder at home and how to use a home friendly butane torch to solder, how to set up to work at home (both a simple set up and with a jewelry bench).
