Fancy cut stone setting walks you through a variety of settings that you can adapt to your own designs and use to set any shape with a point/corner!
In this class, Jenn Parnell walks you through how to create several settings, use prefabricated settings, and methods for setting stones. We will also talk about the anatomy of stones, different cuts, and what to look for when buying stones.
Topics covered include:
-Fabrication of flat back bezels
-Fabrication of step/seated bezels
-Bezel setting preparation for fancy cut corners/points incudling cutting seats and pockets.
-Using engravers with stone setting
-V-Prong preparation and setting
-Fabrication of bar settings
-Setting techniques for bar settings
-Different styles of prongs for fancy cut stones

About our interactive online classes
This class is online and uses the Zoom app/website. Through Zoom, you’ll be able to see demos and follow instructions, ask questions and interact with your instructor. Zoom is easy to use and free for students to use for class, and works on most devices, like phones (iphone, Android, etc), tablets (iPads, etc), and computers (Mac or PC).
This course meets for 6 weeks, 3 hours per week, for a total of 18 hours. Your instructor is also available during free Zoom office hours for questions and help.
Each class is also recorded and available for students to watch later, to review instructions or in case you missed a class.
Students work at home or in their studio. All of our recommended tools and the kit materials are chosen to be home studio friendly. We always choose the safest materials, chemicals and tools for you and the environment.

Students should have a good understanding and comfort level with soldering, basic fabrication, using the flexshaft, and basic stone setting skills.
Jewelry 1 and 2, and Stone Setting 1 or similar will give you these skills (online or in-person workshops ok)
