Join world-renowned jeweler, metalsmith, and educator Charles Lewton-Brain for a special 2 hour session on Jurying Yourself: How to analyse your work in design and quality, strategies for Positive Self Critique, and becoming a better designer.
In this workshop, Charles teaches you how to analyze your work in design and technical terms, gives you tools to look at your object and objectively look at it so as to improve your design abilities. These tools show you how to disengage the 'personal' from the 'business' of analytical critique. They include the different ways we can analyse an object, Formal Design (rhythm, symmetry, implied space and weight etc), Conceptual, Intent, Meanings and References, resolution of intent and more.
This is a wonderful and targeted opportunity for those who can benefit from looking at their work, and other people's, objectively. Methods of self evaluation taught in the workshop lead to better, more cohesive design and objects. Students who wish to can present work for critique but there is no requirement to do so. Pre and post class materials are included as well as the two hour live session.
There is no kit for this class. If you wish to present your work for feedback, there will be further instructions in your follow-up emails.
No prerequisites, all levels welcome!
