Silver Metal Clay Paper Type, a unique paper-thin sheet of 99.9% fine silver clay that remains soft during working time and requires no drying time. This amazing product allows the metal clay enthusiast to expand their repertoire of metal clay techniques.

In this workshop students will use Metal Clay Paper type to explore the ageless skills of Quilling and Origami. Quilling is an ancient art technique used during the Renaissance to decorate book covers, cards, jewelry and religious items. It involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, looped, curled and twisted to create shapes. Students will learn this ageless art form using Metal Clay Paper Type.

Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures. Prior metal clay experience is required. Projects in this class must be fired in a kiln.

Techniques taught:

  • Cutting Metal Clay paper type
  • Forming and shaping paper type prior to firing
  • Firing instructions for paper type
  • Reshaping after firing
  • Attaching fired components
  • Second firing instructions
