Imagine setting stones in clay and firing them into pure silver with the stones in place! Create jewelry with bezels, flush settings and prong settings with home studio friendly tools materials
Setting stones in Metal Clay can be tricky and if not done properly, stones may shift during firing or fall out after firing. In this class students will learn and practice a variety of techniques for accurately and securely setting and firing in place both cabochon and faceted stones. Methods for setting stones which cannot be fired in place will be discussed. Working with small 4 mm stones, each will be set in a shaped and textured link to create a stylish bracelet. To finish the bracelet students will make a bar and toggle clasp.
