The hydraulic press is a fantastically useful machine that is simple to operate. Use it to speed up all sorts of jewelry making, like cutting disks, forming metal, creating hollow forms, making quickly repeatable shapes, creating textures and patterns, and even making cuffs.

This live online Zoom workshop will introduce you to the press and how you can use it to enhance your jewelry designs.

Techniques taught:
• About hydraulic presses and options to make one or buy
• About hydraulic press accessories
• How to set up your hydraulic press
• Silhouette dies for hollow forms
• Impression dies for forming shapes
• Using the press with a disc cutter
• Creating texture and pattern with the press
• Making lots of exactly the same sheet metal shapes with blanking dies

You do not need to own a hydraulic press to take this class. Students can take the class to learn all about the hydraulic press, so that they can make an informed decision about buying one. If you already own a press, you can use it during class to practice.

It’s not just a recording. You can ask questions live with your instructor.
With our Zoom online class format, students can practice during class, talk with the instructor, ask questions and get help.

Check out our free videos on how to set up to make jewelry at home.

This class does not include a kit of materials. Since this class is open to students with or without a hydraulic press, there is not a kit. A list of recommended materials for practice is included in the supplies list.

A full color handout is included with the class. Create your own workbook with the beautiful handout that is downloadable for this workshop. Handouts include instructions for techniques and projects, reference charts and lots of information to support your learning.

Students work at home or in their studio. All of our recommended tools and the kit materials are chosen to be home studio friendly.

Read what students have to say about our online classes on the testimonials page.

No tools are required for this class.

A pdf with a list of optional tools, dies, metal and dies will be emailed to students right after they register.
