Join René Roberts on a journey through her work and exploration of her materials. René started as a glassworker with a love of photography and a deep connection to her landscape. She later discovered metals, and has constantly searched for ways of using glass and metal together. She calls herself a “mad scientist” at heart, often creating visual hybrids with etched, electroformed and enameled copper, glass colored with metal foils, and screen printed decals.
Photography is a constant thread through her work, as she transforms her images into patterns and textures that reference natural forms. Follow along as she walks us through her processes, and how she’s used photographs and drawings in various ways to create luscious layered works in metal and enamel.
