Cost: FREE!

Metal Clay is a unique material- metal that can be worked like clay. Invented in Japan over 25 years ago, professionals viewed the material as a fad; a quick and easy way for hobbyists to make charms and other simple jewelry. Join Arlene Mornick, professional and leading Metal Clay artist as she talks about the material, and what is possible with it.

Metal Clay is exactly as its name describes - micron-size particles of metal plus a binder and water delivering a clay-like feel to the material. The binder and water grant malleability to the metal, so that it can be easily shaped in a variety of ways.

In the time since its invention, Metal Clay has stood the test of time as pros and amateurs use the best of what it has to offer to mainstream the material and incorporate it in works of art. From humble beginnings to exploratory works of art, Metal Clay is a material every artist should know about.
