Filigree is a beautiful jewelry technique that has roots in antiquity, and is still used in contemporary jewelry today! Using fine silver wires, filigree is a lace-like open work technique that creates lightweight pieces that allow the light to shine through the metal.
Milt is excellent at breaking down the complicated look of filigree into its building blocks and guiding you through the creation process with a hands-on approach that puts you at ease. His classes at Silvera Jewelry School are fun, full of information and techniques, and students leave with beautiful filigree jewelry. His free talk will include a demonstration of making filigree flower designs.
Milt is an independent jewelry artist and teacher. He discovered his love of working with precious metals over 25 years ago. He is one of only a handful of metal artists in North America who focuses their studio practice on the design and fabrication of filigree. He lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and is a professional member of the Alberta Craft Council.
