Sunday, January 22, 2023; 12:00PM - 1:30PM PT (Pacific Time)

Cost: FREE!

This class is already under way. Please see below for any other available workshop dates.

Join us as Mark Nelson from Rio Grande walks us through a tour of Argentium Silver, his favorite alloy. In particular, Mark will introduce us to the new Argentium 940 alloy and what it's like to work with it.

Mark works for Rio Grande Jewelry Supply in New Mexico, he's a charming presenter on TV and the internet, and a he's a fantastic jeweler.

Argentium was first patented in 1990, over 20 years ago. This silver alloy has more silver content than regular sterling. It's tarnish resistant, doesn't scale when annealed or soldered, and it fuses beautifully - better than fine silver! It's brighter than regular sterling and stronger. Imagine using less flux, less solder and less pickle solution to fabricate your jewelry. Plus it stays clean without constant retouching. What's not to love?

This wonder alloy can be used for fabrication and casting. Mark Nelson will share his expertise, tips and tricks for working with Argentium.

All registrants will receive a recording of the talk, so if you can't make it to the live event you can watch it later.

If a class is online, or is a combination online and in-person session, all students receive a link to a recording of the class demonstrations. In-person only workshops are not recorded. For staff instructor classes, students have access to the recordings for one year. For guest instructors, access is 30 days.
