Jewelry 3 & 4 :: 8 week course

(place mouse over image for larger view)

This sequel to the 8 week Jewelry 1 & 2 course continues to build your fabrication skills with exciting projects: a pendant with multiple stone settings and decorative elements, a cuff bracelet, and hollow form earrings.

Students design a custom pendant with a bail for multiple stones to be set in bezels. They will decorate their settings with a choice of twisted wire borders, silver granules and wire elements.

The cuff project is made by pouring an ingot of sterling and rolling it into sheet with a mill. We’ll also use the rolling mill to imprint the sheet with texture. Rolling mill textures can be made by using fabric, paper, plastic and metal to create fun patterns.

Hollow forms are enclosed designs, like beads and boxes. Using this technique, students will make lightweight earrings. The hollow form design will also include demonstrations of how to set a pearl.
