Beautiful stones are available to jewelry artists that just cannot be fired in place in Metal Clay. Designing for these stones, which must be set after firing, can be tricky because of the expected shrinkage in metal clay work. In this class design options will be taught and practiced that allow for the setting of larger cabochons in fired metal clay. The projects taught are easily fired in a kiln. Torch firing is tricky, however, the instructor will review torch firing preparation and options. Always available to students is the option of mailing finished pieces to the instructor for kiln firing.
